A luxury wedding photographer came to us after they lost all the digital photo files for several unedited weddings when their multiple computer and backup hard-drives failed and the top data-retrieval specialists in the country were unable to recover them.

Triaging on a tight timeline

After reviewing the wedding photography contracts with their attorney, we decided the best course of action would be to present their clients with an “over and above” solution as soon as possible.

Working on a tight timeline, the photographer created albums for each bride and groom and their families using stills edited from raw videography footage.

All of this, along with a full refund, was presented to each client when they broke the news of the lost wedding photos. They also offered lifestyle photos for upcoming family events and holidays at no charge.

None of the couples filed a lawsuit against the wedding photographer and one of the brides even referred several of their newly engaged friends to the photographer over the next few months.

Minimizing Potential Brand DAmage

We worked with the wedding photographer to identify specific friends and family members of the affected couples who would potentially react in a publicly negative way.

Using their social media profiles to identify their "drama style" patterns, we developed additional contingency plans that addressed how to graciously yet effectively handle each situation should the need arise.

We developed strategies for minimizing industry gossip in order to preserve the photographer's professional reputation and to protect against a potential drop in referrals from local wedding planners and venues.

As a result of these plans, the photographer remained on the preferred vendor lists at the top luxury wedding venues and hotels and continued to be hired by the best wedding planners in their city.
