9 things to smile about
A Splendid Note from Liene:
I’ve been fortunate to have worked with wedding pros from 94 countries over my career and I’ve heard from a ton of them this past month – all with similar questions, stories of lost business, uncertainties of what to say to clients who are completely stressed.
We’re all in this together. If you have questions on Coronavirus and your wedding business, feel free to email me at hello@thinksplendid.com.
I’ll be sharing my answers here on the Think Splendid blog so that everyone can benefit. I’ll also keep your name anonymous. Totally free, no strings attached – I truly do not care if you never hire me.
You can read all the previous Q+As on Coronavirus and your wedding business here or you can sort by Q+A topic category using the links in the sidebar.
Focus on the Splendid
We're an industry that makes our living by celebrating life's milestones, and I’ve been starting each post with a couple of positive COVID-19 related things we can all smile about.
Today’s post, however, is only good things: some heartwarming stories, some interesting, non-depressing pieces of news, some doses of humor if you need a laugh, etc.
Total Global Recoveries
The number of global recoveries is now more than 494,500 people, up from 430,000 on Monday.
Staying Organized While Staying Home
Our friends at Appointed have created a series of free digital downloads to help the entire family stay organized while working or attending school from home.
I personally love that the checklist for toddlers and young children includes a space for them to acknowledge their feelings each day.
All Creatures Great and Small
No Filter with Naomi
From Essence: “As if live steaming couldn’t get any more fun, Naomi Campbell has now joined the craze. The supermodel, activist and all-around entrepreneur has saved quarantine with a daily show, No Filter with Naomi.
The intimate live-streamed series encourages viewers to #stayhome and save lives during this critical time. No Filter With Naomi will focus on in-depth, career-spanning conversations between Naomi and a close group of her friends, including designers, musicians, actors, beauty gurus and media personalities.”
Her first two guests were Cindy Crawford and Marc Jacobs. New episodes are livestreamed daily at 3 pm ET and you can watch all of the past episodes on YouTube here.

The Carb Content We All Need Right Now
From Vice: “Brands are giving away their secret recipes because of Coronavirus. Now you can make Disneyland churros, Pret A Manger cookies, and Waffle House waffles while you're stuck at home.
It's a PR move, no doubt, meant to gain favor for food and hospitality businesses that are struggling amid COVID-19-related closures . . . this move seems well-intentioned, even to those of us who don't really want to give The Brands much credit. The idea behind these "secret recipe" unveilings is that people crave comfort, and our favorite foods from familiar establishments—ones that are now either closed or out of our reach—can provide that.”
Even More Carb Content, Because Of Course
From Polygon: “Since we’re all baking bread, let’s watch the five best bread-baking episodes on Netflix. There’s a bread episode out there for every bread mood: actually wanting to bake something, wanting to watch other people bake something, or just wanting to look at lovingly filmed loaves of bread.”
TikTok Is Hosting A 48-Hour Virtual Music Festival With Over 35 Artists
From Refinery29: “This Friday, TikTok is partnering with LiveXLive to bring you "Music Lives" a 48-hour music festival featuring over 35 artists. Artists like Swae Lee, Trippie Redd, and Nas will be performing live from their bedrooms, living rooms, private studios, and backyards.
